Fashion Designers - Five Of The Best
Fashion is something that impacts on all our lives, but very few people actually know that much about the top designers who influence the trends that we follow. This is why we’ve put together this guide to look at some of the most famous fashion designers of 2011 and their key achievements. One really popular designer right now is Issa. Based in London, Camilla al Fayed has just bought a controlling stake in this designer, who is increasingly popular thanks to her royal fan, the Duchess of Cambridge.
Now we come to another ‘Royal connection’ and Alexander McQueen. He may have sadly passed away in 2010 but the designer’s fashion house is still going strong, with Sarah Burton – the creative director of Alexander McQueen – designing Kate Middleton’s wedding dress in 2011. That move catapulted an already popular designer into the limelight. Alexander McQueen is known for memorable prints and patterns as well as statement pieces that get heads turning. The designs also feature a blend of modernity and classic style for a timeless look.
Another hot fashion designer is Donatella Versace. She is always popular and never far from the limelight, and the house of Versace is one of the most famous brands in the world. Versace is a trend setter, with the current collection featuring lots of bright summery colors and clean tailoring. Their evening wear is also eternally popular and – more proof of Versace’s enduring relevance – Donatella Versace has recently agreed to design clothes for high street brand H&M. Those clothes are sure to sell out in a hurry.
Now we come to relatively new Australian designer called Dion Lee, who is set to be massive throughout 2011. He’s said to be one of the best designers to come out of Australia for ages, and at the age of just 24 it seems safe to say he has plenty of time to continue developing his style – and he’s almost certainly set to go on to do even more great things. His recent shows have been causing something of a stir so we should hear much more from him soon.
We can also expect to see more from Spanish-born designer Emilio de la Morena. He now works a lot in London but his Spanish influences are more than clear in his designs, which are often very ornate and exciting. His clothes often appear to be moving sculptures and he describes the type of woman to wear his clothes as ‘strong and modern’. This is certainly something that is evident in the clothes he designs and it will be interesting to see what he does next.

Who Are The Most In Demand Celebrities In The UK?
Everyone loves to read about celebrities, and it seems like this year UK celebrities have been more talked about than ever. So, who are some of the most written about famous people in the UK this year? Well, one of them has got to be Cheryl Cole. Shes one of the most recognizable celebrities around right now and the media seem to follow her wherever she goes. Lately, she has been caught up in the whole X Factor drama and that has certainly set tongues wagging and pens scribbling.
Also widely talked about in all sections of the media right now are Kate and Pippa Middleton or to give Kate her proper form of address, the Duchess of Cambridge. The sisters have been hugely popular for a while but things really took off when Kate married Prince William (see below) on 29th April. Now it seems like both of them are in the papers all the time and, while you might expect most of the attention to be on Kate, its actually Pippa getting a lot of the coverage.
As always, the world of sport can also be relied upon for some juicy gossip and, continuing a trend that has been going on for the past couple of years, Wayne Rooney has to make the list of the most written about people of 2011. Most recently, he has been causing controversy over his decision to have a hair transplant because he was (reportedly) fed up with his football team mates teasing him about his hairline. Barely a day goes by without a report of his latest antics.
This year, Simon Cowell TVs resident Mr. Nasty has also been getting people talking and filling the gossip columns with ink. He has long been a regular in the British media but he seems to have reached new heights in 2011. First there was the will-he/wont-he over whether or not hed be judging this years UK X Factor. Then more recently, hes been causing controversy for inviting the aforementioned Cheryl Cole onto the US X Factor before she got ditched only weeks later.
Lastly, we come to Prince William. Hes always been written about widely because hes a future monarch and high-profile member of the royal family but arguably it was his marriage to Catherine (Kate) live on TV that catapulted him to new heights. As a search and rescue helicopter pilot for the RAF he also makes a lot of headlines and his work for the royal family is also heavily reported on. This attention seems set to stay with the prince for many years to come.

The Healing Attributes Of Mixed Media Art Lessons In Los Angeles
Mixed Media Art Lessons In Los Angeles have curing properties. Many people question the objective of art. They acknowledge an aesthetic approach but disregard any possible positive advantages of a more practical nature. Contrary to popular belief, art isn’t strictly aesthetic. It is not a product with no possible effects outside the obvious - an artistic product. Art is not of less use as compared to science in preparing people to the real world. Actually, the contrary is true. Art is very important in helping the mind reach its total potential.
How can art achieve this? It introduces the brain to different intellectual skills that help us unravel intricate problems. Art triggers the creative section of our brain - the section which works without words and can only convey itself non-verbally. Art, in thought as well as through the imaginative processes, activates the imaginative and creative side, the spatial and intuitive side of our mind. Art jumps over the process of linear as well as logical thinking. It trains the brain to move into thinking in a different way, of exploring old problems in brand new ways.
Why might the arts give such advantages? Artistic techniques restore a sense of identity and agency. It reminds people they are a whole lot more than simply a disease process or a prognosis. Some scientists believe such feelings of control and mastery induce an increase in the production of disease-fighting cells. A 2004 study found that HIV-positive sufferers who engaged in painting exercises specifically designed to help them process traumatic events, had higher levels of a specific group of white blood cells called CD4 lymphocytes.
Other research reveals different mechanisms through which art could improve health. Individuals who were pleased with their art work had lower amounts of cortisol, a hormone which is a marker for anxiety. Quite simply, artistic engagement doesn’t simply make people feel better in the moment—it may safeguard their future health by improving their natural defenses. The artwork distracts the patients, forcing them to think about something else other than the pain they may be experiencing in therapy. And with the illnesses going around all over the world today, we must surround ourselves with beauty.
Mixed Media Art Lessons In Los Angeles could really heal. For people coping with psychosis and those people who haven’t encountered psychosis, there can be a huge gap in comprehending. In a broad sense, art could be an efficient tool where those people who are unfamiliar with the landscape of psychosis could be provided a look into a complex and often mystifying medical problem. On a more personal level, for persons caring for someone who is living with psychosis art can be a great way to gain insight into the individual’s subjective experience. In this medical condition, where the reality felt by someone in the midst of psychosis can be very different from the reality felt by others, art could be taken as a way to connect the distance between these kinds of encounters.

Finally, for the first time in history, the poker playing public are able to forward nominations for the Women in Poker Hall of Fame Class of 2010. I shall try and not dwell on the question as to why it took so long for the poker playing community to recognize its female counterparts, especially when they (well, we) lose just as much hard earned cash at the poker tables than any other person does. However, that would smack of feminism and this is an article about spreading the credit.
The induction process is due to take place in Las Vegas over the Labour Day weekend. All nominations were being accepted until the 30th April and so pretty soon the winners will be announced. So what can you do to be considered as an inductee into the Women Poker Hall of Fame? Well, you have to have been active in poker circles for at least 15 years and contributed to the global poker community in some significant way. According to press releases, this means either winning major poker tournaments or by making significant contributions to the industry.
Well, as any women who has spent the past 15 years of their life playing the sport, has every right to say they have made a significant contribution! Take my bank statements over the past 15 years! I, as a woman, also played poker once, lost significantly and so that was my significant contribution to someone else’s pocket. However, in spite of this critical take on the situation, at the end of the day this endeavor is highly commendable. It is fantastic that people are stepping forward and recognizing that women can also play a highly-skilled game of chance while conniving and bluffing their way to the top and that they deserve the same amount of recognition as men do.
So to sum up, women in poker not only have the induction ceremony to enjoy, but perhaps they have also enjoyed some luck on the poker table and maybe their time spent on their sport will be recognised at the event.
Long gone are the days where women are excluded. We too can join in with Internet Poker and enjoy games of Littlewoods Poker and PokerStars Rakeback
