How To Get A Spartan Helmet Tattoo
The variety of mythical tattoos one can get are almost endless. Many people decide to get pieces of medieval weapons, armors, shields, and even helmets tattooed onto themselves. A local tattoo parlor recently tattood my brother Dave with a Spartan helmet tattoo. Our ancestors lived in Sparta and we have always been fascinated with the battle stories of the Spartans.
Dave has been a huge fan of the spartan movies and has seen the movie “300” almost that many times. The helmet is most easily recognized as a Spartan warrior’s head gear so we figured it would be the best thing to tattoo on him. Eventually he’ll get a Spartan shield on his left arm and a Spartan spear on his right arm. He might even tattoo the words “Spartan Soldier” on his stomach. He says he’ll loop the word so that it arcs across his midsection.
When we first brought Dave to our local tattoo parlor and asked the tattoo artist to place a Spartan helmet on his chest he said he couldn’t do it. The artist said he would like to try, but he did not really have a good idea of what a Spartan helmet looked like. We decided that we had better get a picture of our Spartan helmet before returning to the parlor. Rather than get a picture we eventually decided to go to armor venue and just purchase a nice replica. This Spartan helmet looked stunning and the purchase price was around eighty dollars before shipping costs. We received the helmet in the mail very quickly and were able to order it with our Discover card.
Once we got the helmet we went back down to the tattoo parlor with the helmet. After showing the tattoo artist the helmet, he let us know that he was anxious to undertake the order. He had a great sketch ready for us in a few short minutes. After thinking it over Dave asked for a temporary helmet tattoo to be placed onto him so that he could decide if it looked good on his chest. We figured we’d look at it for about a six or seven days and if it still looked good we’d come back and get the real thing placed on him.
In the end, Dave got a great looking tattoo. The Spartan helmet tattoo is now permanently placed on his left pectoral muscle. The compliments he has gotten on his tattoo have been great, even his girl friend likes it. She was against him getting a tattoo so this was really surprising for us.
