Onam: The Most Critical Annual Celebration
National festival of Kerala, Onam season is the most critical yearly event for every Malayalees. Onam is feted on the ‘Thiruvonam’ day Malayalam month of ‘Chingam’, to mark the special go to of Mahabali (also called Maveli) to his land.

Onam Festival: Onam is a 10-day prolonged festival, commencing with Chingam month or Atham day. Kerala Carnival: Onam is also the fair time of Kerala, folks actively engaging in a different range of pursuits like boat racing, backwater, pulikali (dressing up and paint their skin like leopards or tigers on two ft), ball games, playing marbles, enjoying dramas and the list of pursuits is unlimited. Females also participates in dancing, singing and so forth. There will be also dancers of Mohiniyattom, kathakali, and many others. and martial arts efficiency of Kalaripayattu.
Onam Feast: The primary attraction of ‘thiruvonam’ time is a particular onam feast, locally known as onam onasadya or sadya, which is offering of rice with minimum 15 side dishes on banana leaves. Onasadya would be there in every and every house in Kerala.
There is some dress code to eat the onasadya. Males put on white dhotis with white shirt and females white or ivory colored saree and blouse with golden borders embroidered with threads, called kasavu. Children will get a fair piece of cloth referred to as onakkohdi or manjakkohdi.
