Fashion Designers - Five Of The Best

is something that impacts on all our lives, but very few people actually know that much about the top designers who influence the trends that we follow. This is why we’ve put together this guide to look at some of the most famous designers of 2011 and their key achievements. One really popular designer right now is Issa. Based in London, Camilla al Fayed has just bought a controlling stake in this designer, who is increasingly popular thanks to her royal fan, the Duchess of Cambridge.

Now we come to another ‘Royal connection’ and Alexander McQueen. He may have sadly passed away in 2010 but the designer’s house is still going strong, with Sarah Burton – the creative director of Alexander McQueen – designing Kate Middleton’s wedding dress in 2011. That move catapulted an already popular designer into the limelight. Alexander McQueen is known for memorable prints and patterns as well as statement pieces that get heads turning. The designs also feature a blend of modernity and classic style for a timeless look.

Another hot designer is Donatella Versace. She is always popular and never far from the limelight, and the house of Versace is one of the most famous brands in the world. Versace is a trend setter, with the current collection featuring lots of bright summery colors and clean tailoring. Their evening wear is also eternally popular and – more proof of Versace’s enduring relevance – Donatella Versace has recently agreed to design clothes for high street brand H&M. Those clothes are sure to sell out in a hurry.

Now we come to relatively new Australian designer called Dion Lee, who is set to be massive throughout 2011. He’s said to be one of the best designers to come out of Australia for ages, and at the age of just 24 it seems safe to say he has plenty of time to continue developing his style – and he’s almost certainly set to go on to do even more great things. His recent shows have been causing something of a stir so we should hear much more from him soon.

We can also expect to see more from Spanish-born designer Emilio de la Morena. He now works a lot in London but his Spanish influences are more than clear in his designs, which are often very ornate and exciting. His clothes often appear to be moving sculptures and he describes the type of woman to wear his clothes as ‘strong and modern’. This is certainly something that is evident in the clothes he designs and it will be interesting to see what he does next.
