This is the fourth part of my review of the Nikon D 7000 digital SLR camera.
Therefore, one focal lengh will not give the top quality results you expect in a range of circumstances . One option is to obtain and carry a range of different lenses and some photographers do that. But doesn’t that sound rather inconvenient, wouldn’t it be better to get a couple of lenses with vairiable focal length to accomodate most of the shots you are going to want to take? A zoom lens does exactly that and the numbers that describe them tell you the shortest and longest focal lengths that they provide.
For example , an 18-55mm zoom lens would be suitable for landscapes and general use whereas an 18-105 mm makes possible some medium telephoto work and taking portraits. A 55-200mm or 55-300mm zoom lens would be used for telephoto photography, taking pictures of animals without getting close and disturbing them for instance. By buying two different zoom lenses with your camera you can have a focal length available for most photographs you will want to take.
It is worth noting that there are single lenses which cover a wider focal length range such as 18-200mm. These generally are more expensive, but if you can afford it they are well worth considering because you avoid having to change lenses, possibly in an exposed environment if you expect to need that variety of focal length on a particular occasion.
