Mother’s Day Card Observation

This Mother’s Day season opened my eyes to something I never extremely paid attention to before. It had nothing to try to to with crowded restaurants, picked over pastries at the market, or the piles of advertisments claiming to be the perfect Mother’s day gift. This extremely had nothing to try and do with the day to speak of. I noticed something attention-grabbing about myself.

I suck at personalizing greeting cards.

For no matter reason, I’ve got perpetually thought it necessary to add my very own very little message at the underside of a card. Not as a result of I do not think the great individuals at Yank Greetings do an adequate job capturing the moment on embossed cardboard, however as a result of I want to create the card, you recognize, even more special.

Therefore, armed with a pen and a reasonably robust grasp of the english language, I ready to feature special messages for my mother and my wifes cards. Time passed, first simply a jiffy, then hours. I just couldn’t suppose of something to say that the cardboard didn’t already cover. Everyone knows that if you plagerize an aphorism from the identical card you are giving, you are in an exceedingly whole new category of unorginal. For concern of being unoriginal, I kept at it.

Additional time passed. To create things worse, I used to be trying to fill out this card whereas Rhonda (my wife) was still in the house. Thus, when I heard her coming by, I’d quickly hide the card. 2 times I snuck into the bathroom, locked the door, and pretended to do my business. (Note: Nothing adds fuel to the fireplace of incompetency than pretending to require a dump whereas trying to write down one thing sincere during a card.) Once two go arounds with this, I realized that sitting on the bathroom and using the sink as my desk was not the environment for crafting a stunning message to the mother of my children.

I finally put pen to paper. After hours of scuffling with writer’s block and easing my wife’s mind (who thought I had diarrhea), I hammered out this personalised message in her Mother’s Day card. “Have a nice day!” Swish!
