Like A Rolling Stone, What Does That Mean? Find Out In Life By Keith Richards
Boyhood friends Keith Richards and Mick Jagger ran into each other in 1960 and decided to start a band based on the music of black American r&b artists. The rest as they say, is history. There have been many books written about the Rolling Stones. However only two other band members have written memoirs. Bill Wyman, the Stones’ original bass player has written two books based on his diaries and experiences, the first was Stone Alone; The Story of a Rock and Roll Band. A DK book, the ones with all the cool pictures and diagrams and stuff, Rolling with the Stones was the second. Ron Wood guitarist since 1974 has an auto bio out called, Ronnie: The Autobiography. Rolling Stone groupie and star in her own right, Marianne Faithfull wrote an autobiography called Faithfull.
The autobiographies that fans are waiting for are those of Mick and Keith. Well, we wait still for Mr Jagger. As a founding member and guitarist for the worlds greatest rock and roll band, much has been told about the infamous Keef and now at last we get to hear it from the horses mouth. Speaking of speaking from the horses mouth, Richards was the work horse member of the Rolling Stones. He brought the influence of Chuck Berry, Jimmy Reed, and Muddy Waters by way of his guitar to the rest of the Rolling Stones. When guitarist Brian Jones began to fade into the sunset, Keith took over as main guitarist sometimes recording all the parts for an album. He was the McCartney to Jagger’s Lennon as his role as songwriter evolved. Richards did bass guitar duty on many of the Stones recordings. When Keith’s personal life was filled with drug and relationship issues he still managed to stay involved the the Rolling Stones as well as in many solo projects.
Will all of our questions about the Rolling Stones be answered in a single book by Mr Richards? We anxiously await the release of Life by Keith Richards, a mastermind in one of the most influential rock and roll bands in the world.
