What Makes a Cruise Luxury?
Great cruises can be found in every part of the world these days, from those that travel up and down the Nile, to a cruise around the Scottish Isles. But what makes a cruise stand out from the crowd enough for it to be classed as luxury?
Service. Luxury cruises rely on providing top class service to their customers. Within reason, a cruise ship can be classed as luxury if the service is outstanding, even though the rest of the offerings are not quite so good. It goes without saying that staff on the boat will look professional and act in a friendly and polite manner at all times. One of the most simple, and yet overlooked, service requirements of a luxury cruise is being able to talk to a member of staff at any time of the day or night to have problems resolved.
Facilities. Although cruise ships are rather large these days, they are still limited in the range of facilities they can provide, and therefore it’s important that what they do offer is top notch. The term ‘facilities’ can really refer to anything a guest might use, from restrooms to tennis courts, and luxury cruises will maintain high standards and move with the times. Silversea Cruises lead the way when it comes to offering top class facilities and giving their guests the latest toys.
Food. This is one of the most important elements for any ship. The quality of on-board food can really make or break a holiday for lots of people, so it is imperative that standards are high and variety is wide. It is not uncommon for a luxury cruise to have a world-class chef on board preparing the food, or at least controlling a team of chefs underneath them, who are available to cook something up at any time of the day. Cruise companies such as Oberoi Nile Cruises pride themselves on the food and drink they offer to guests and actively encourage their guests to ask for tailored dishes.
