4 Fundamental Beginners Free Poker and Freerolls

While there are several type of poker game variation, the type you’ll want to start with when playing free poker online is the ever popular and relatively straightforward Texas Hold ‘Em (called Hold ‘em for short).

Upto 10 players play per poker table at a time and multiple tables can play to make up larger poker tournaments.

At the start each player is given 2 private cards (also known as pocket or hole cards) that that only they can see.

Then over a period of betting rounds 5 further cards, called community or board cards are introduced to the table.

All the players share these cards and the winner (very basically) is the player with the best combination (hand) of the 2 pocket cards and best 3 of the 5 community cards.

Hold ‘em poker games, even free poker can get really scary nervy sometimes. A player can have a pair of matched e.g., 2 Kings, in his personal hand that match a pair in the community hand, making a nice hand of two pair.

In some poker game variations such as Five Card Stud this would be a safe very strong hand. But in Hold ‘Em, especially on a 10 player table there is a very high chance that it can be beaten so it’s very important that you think your hand through before you go all-in (meaning put all your money on it) You can lose it all easily that way even in beginners free poker!

I recently bet all of my chips (money) on a full house which is a great hand). I had a K (King) and an A (Ace) as my hole (pocket) cards. The board cards had an Ace and two Kings so it looked pretty unbeatable. I was looking forward to winning bigtime!

But that did not happen. Another player at the table had pocket Aces giving him a higher full house than mine. A terrible disappointment! Thankfully on this occasion it in a free poker session

While it was an unfortunate hand for me, but I would probably bid the same hand in the future with all my chips. A Full House is an excellent hand and will win much more often than not.

Now here are my 4 Beginners Free Poker Games Tips

Number One
Be very sure what your hand actually is! Check your cards twice before making a bid.

Second
Think hard about what hands other players might be able to make.
If there is a pair in the community cards, some other player is very likely to have three of a kind.

Number 3
Manage risk and do not bet more than you are prepared to lose. If you do not want to leave without any chips, don’t ever bet them all on one hand!

Fourth and Final (for now)
Observe other players carefully. Note how they bet and call different hand types. Some will bluff, some will never bluff, and some mix things up so you never know. You will be able to tell a little about them if you pay attention. Pay special attention to the players that talk a lot, they’re generally trying to distract you and force errors…ask yourself what they are trying to disguise…
