Dido Life for Rent Pop Music CD Review

Author: Clyde Lee Dennis

Life For Rent is the latest Pop CD released by the richly talented Dido who once again has delivered a brilliant collection of tracks. I’m confident Dido fans, and Pop fans alike will be pleased with this one.

It’s a rare day indeed that I get a CD from an artist that I can truthfully say does not have a bad track in the bunch. I’m more than happy to announce that's exactly what I must say about this one. There simply is NOT a bad one in the bunch. No fillers here at all, with each song standing tall on it’s own.

Dido possesses the characteristic of being able to win you over with her talent alone. The kind of artist I really enjoy listening to.

Overall Life For Rent is excellent from beginning to end. One of those CDs that after a few listens the songs are just etched into your memory. A must have for the Pop fan. Really sensational from beginning to end.

While this entire CD is outstanding some of my favorites are track 3 - Life For Rent, track 9 - Do You Have A Little Time, and track 11 - See The Sun

My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 1 - White Flag. What a nice track!

Classical Guitar Playing - What Exactly Is It?

Author: Kevin Sinclair

Classical guitar playing is what is participated in when using a classical guitar. This kind of guitar has no electronics and no pick-ups. In general it has six strings although there are some classical guitars which have twelve strings. The thinner strings known as the trebles are made from nylon and the bass strings are nylon with brass wire wrapped around them.

As far as construction is concerned the classical guitar is hollow and shaped like a pear. Its is made from wood, usually two or three different types, the cheap and nasty varieties being built with a plywood top, whilst those worth buying are made from woods such as rosewood.

The resonance produced by the classical guitar does not rely on an amplifier or any other sound effects. It comes direct from the hollow part of the instrument through the sound hole as the strings resound over it.

Most players of classical guitars remain seated whilst playing. The other main difference which sets this type of guitar apart from others is the kind of playing involved. Classical guitar playing can be characterized by the style of music played which is usually considered to be of value due to the length of time it has been around, compared to the many pop tunes which come and go in the blink of an eye.

The strings are usually plucked using the thumb and fingers of the right hand when learning to play this kind of instrument. This means you will have no use for a pick. Strumming of the classical guitar is only used as a special effect.

When learning to play a classical guitar you will probably practice sight reading sheet music along with discovering technical concepts and how they should be applied. Rather than trying to learn on your own, it’s best to have a classical guitar teacher and although it may take you quite some time to become skillful, you are sure to enjoy the learning process. It is important that you choose a teacher whose style suits your personality as many of them teach in different ways, some formal and some informal. Whatever style you choose to learn to play the classical guitar, you are certain to find this a worthwhile pastime until you have developed your talents to the full.

Classical guitar playing - what exactly is it?

Well one thing is for sure. It’s not about jumping around on a stage screaming out to your audience whilst thrashing away at your guitar. That’s electric guitar playing and brilliantly talented as it is, it's a whole different story.

Chris Brown Biography

Early Life

Christopher Maurice Brown was born on May 5th, 1989 in the small town of Tappahannock, Virginia to Clinton Brown and Joyce Hawkins. Music entered his life when he started listening to the home radio and was influenced by artists like Michael Jackson and Sam Cooke. His interest and talent were nurtured further when he was sent to live with his Aunt in Arkansas where his younger cousins and he performed in a few local talent shows.

Till Chris was 11 years old, he wanted to become a rapper but he began to notice his singing talents and started working on the same. When he was 13, Chris was discovered by a local production team which had come to his fathers gas station is search of new talents. From this point on there was no looking back for Chris. He moved to New York and began his singing career.

Singing Career

The production team organized an audition event before Tina Davis who was the president of Def Jam (and is incidentally his manager now). When Chris turned 15, that is in 2004 he was sent to Los Angeles where he was signed a contract with Jive Records. Chris began working on his debut album in early 2005 with big names like Scott Storch, Bryan Cox, Bow Wow and the Underdogs.

Chriss debut album Chris Brown was released on November 29, 2005 which debuted at the number 2 position on the Billboard Hot 200 selling more than 150,000 copies in the first week itself. The song Run It from the album was a hit and peaked at the number 1 position in the United States for 5 weeks. The album was certified as platinum in 5 weeks and was certified double platinum within the year. To promote the album further Chris kicked off a tour Up Close and Personal which also pushed back the production of his next album by two months.

The album received a Grammy nomination in the Best Contemporary R&B Album and Best New Artist category wherein he had the privilege to be a part of a nationally televised performance on the Awards night along with Smokey Robinson and Lionel Richie singing a medley of their respective hits. He also won the Soul Train award in the Best R&B/Soul New Artist category, 2 BET Awards in the Best New Category and Viewers choice category, 3 Billboard Awards in the Artist, Male Artist and the New Artist of the Year category an NAACP Image Award in the Outstanding New Artist category.

Chriss second album Exclusive was released on November 6, 2007. The second single of the album Kiss Kiss went on to become Chriss second US number 1 single and reached the number one spot on the US Billboard Hot 100. On December 4th, 2007 the third single With You was released which reached the number 2 position on the Billboard Hot 100 and became Chriss fifth top ten hit in the United States.

Acting Career

Chris Brown has starred in a couple of television serials. He made guest appearances in UPNs One on One and on the pilot episode of the Ns The Brandon T. Jackson Show. Further he also featured in a small role as a band geek in the fourth season of FOXs O.C. in January 2007. Chris made his film debut in the dance movie Stomp the Yard starring Ne-Yo, Columbus Short and Meagan Good. His next release was the family drama This Christmas which starred Regina King and released on November 21, 2007. His most recent work is on Disneys serial The Suite Life of Zack and Cody where he guest starred as himself along with the Cheetah Girls.

Chris is also involved in charity work and has been a strong supporter of the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital which is recognized internationally for the pioneering work that it does in saving children and finding cures in the field of cancer and other catastrophic diseases. He helped raise over $50,000 during his tour around the world. He is also a part of the Math-A-Thon program with the same institute and they together hope to raise over $22 Million by the end of the year.

Hip-hop Star Rhymes Arrested Before Charity Gig

Hip-hop star Busta Rhymes was denied entry to the UK on his way to a charity concert today because of his criminal convictions in the US.

Rhymes was held at London City airport for 11 hours. Tonight a high court judge ordered the rapper’s immediate release, ruling that it was arguable that his detention was unlawful.

He was given bail to stay overnight at his hotel before a further hearing today to determine whether he can play at the Orange RockCorps gig at the Royal Albert Hall - a free concert for 5,000 charity volunteers that he is headlining.

Mr Justice Flaux heard that Rhymes, whose real name is Trevor Smith Jr, had been kept in a small room with five armed police officers after being stopped by immigration officials when he arrived at the airport at 7.26am. The UK authorities wanted to fly him back to Amsterdam two hours later, citing “unresolved convictions” in America, but at 8.58am his legal team secured an injunction preventing him from going on the flight.

The judge said: “In all the circumstances it seems to me that he is entitled to an order that he be released forthwith or alternatively is entitled to bail.”

Smith’s lawyer, Philip Trott, said the star was "very happy” with the outcome of the 11th-hour hearing. He will now seek an application for permission to bring a judicial review of the legality of the refusal of permission to enter.

In March, Smith, 36, was given three years’ probation in New York for assaulting his former driver and a fan who had allegedly spat on his car, in separate incidents. He was also ordered to do 10 days of community service, pay a $1,250 (675) fine plus costs and enrol in an anti-drink-driving program.

The judge at Manhattan criminal court warned Smith, whose hits include Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See, Dangerous and Touch It, that he had to abide by the conditions of his probation, saying: “If you mess up, you’re going to jail. I’ve given you a chance.”

In the wake of Smith’s detention, Orange RockCorps said Ludacris, a fellow American hip-hop star and friend of Rhymes, had been added to the bill to perform alongside the Automatic, Guillemots, Lethal Bizzle, John Legend and Feeder in front of concert-goers who had earned their tickets by giving four hours each to community charity projects over the summer.

A spokeswoman said Smith had been told he did not have permission to work in the UK due what she described as his "minor" criminal record. But he has a valid work permit for tomorrow night’s show and has been to the UK twice already this year to perform and to do Orange RockCorps charity work in Lambeth, south London.

Stephen Greene, the co-founder of RockCorps, said: “We’re shocked at this sequence of events and this treatment of Busta. He has the necessary work permit and has been in the country twice already this year, so we’re a little puzzled.”

Black Sabbath Technical Ecstasy Rock Music CD Review

Author: Clyde Lee Dennis

The exceptionally talented Rock group Black Sabbath have released their CD entitled Technical Ecstasy. I am very confident and happy to announce that I believe Black Sabbath fans, and Rock fans alike will be pleased with this one. With the release of Technical Ecstasy their artistic excellence is on full display as they have once again delivered a brilliant collection of tracks that could very well be their best work to date.

Unfortunately, it's not everyday that I get a CD for review that I can just pop in and comfortably listen to from beginning to end. There is usually a song or two that I just can’t force myself to get through. Not at all the case with Technical Ecstasy. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish.

One of the nicer things about a CD like this is with this level of talent even if Rock isn’t your favorite style you still can’t help but appreciate the greatness of the musicians.

Overall Technical Ecstasy is outstanding from beginning to end. One of those CDs that after a few listens the songs are just etched into your memory. A must have for the Rock fan. Really sensational from beginning to end.

While the entire CD is really very good some of my favorites are track 2 - You Won’t Change Me, track 6 - Rock N’ Roll Doctor, and track 8 - Dirty Women

My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 1 - Back Street Kids. What a nice track!

Deep Purple Perfect Strangers Rock Music CD Review

Author: Clyde Lee Dennis

Perfect Strangers is the latest Rock CD released by the very group Deep Purple and they have once again delivered a brilliant collection of tracks. I’m confident Deep Purple fans, and Rock fans alike will be pleased with this one.

Perfect Strangers launches with an outstanding track, Knockin’ At Your Back Door, that I anticipate will be heard on radio stations everywhere, and deservedly so. It really is a very nice track.

Perfect Strangers has a pleasantly varied, mix of 10 tracks that are very well written and brilliantly performed songs by these clearly outstanding musicians. Most of the songs display a lot of the kind emotion that makes for a really great listen. Clearly drawing from what I can only imagine are their own real life experiences. At different points touching on the most real emotions of love, and the pain of failed relationships can certainly be heard.

Overall Perfect Strangers is an outstanding release. What I call must have music. I give it two thumbs up and is most definitely a worthy addition to any Rock collection. Truly an outstanding Rock CD. One of those that is completely void of any wasted time, as each track is simply superb.

While the entire CD is outstanding the truly standout tunes are track 2 - Under The Gun, track 6 - A Gypsy's Kiss, and track 10 - Son Of Alerik.
